Getting There

Visiting the Seven Lochs Wetland Park is easy to do using public transport. Numerous buses and trains can take you to several locations around the Wetland Park.

Coming from Glasgow City Centre

Hogganfield Loch – Bus number 19 or 38C from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Cumbernauld Road, by Hogganfield Loch. Alternatively Bus number 38/38A from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Gartloch Road, by Lethamhill Golf course. Turn right onto Cumbernauld Road, the entrance to Hogganfield Loch is a short walk on the right. The journey time is 25 minutes.

Frankfield Loch - Bus number 38C or 19 from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Cumbernauld Road, by Hogganfield Loch. Walk up Cumbernauld Road (away from the Loch) and turn right onto Avenue End Road. The entrance to Cardowan Moss Local Nature Reserve and Frankfield Loch is on the left. Total journey time is 30 minutes.

Bishop Loch - Bus number 41 or X19 from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Westerhouse Road/Lochend Road. The journey time is 30 minutes.

Lochend / Woodend Lochs - Train from Glasgow Queen Street Low Level to Blairhill Rail Station (Helensburgh Central - Edinburgh line). The journey time is 20 minutes. On arrival at Blairhill Station it’s a 20 minute walk to Lochend Loch. Cross over Blair Road and walk down the hill to join the Monklands Canal path or walk across the playing fields to access the Drumpellier Country Park. Both paths lead to Lochend Loch.

Johnston Loch - Train from Glasgow Queen Street station to Gartcosh Station (Glasgow Queen Street – Cumbernauld line). The journey time is 15 minutes. On arrival at Gartcosh Station walk past the car park and along Craignethan Drive to access Gartcosh Local Nature Reserve or cross the footbridge and turn right onto Lochend Road to reach Johnston Loch.

Garnqueen Loch - Bus number X39 from Buchanan Bus Station (Glasgow – Stirling) and alight at Moodiesburn, on Cumbernauld Road after 20 minutes. Catch the number 310 bus from nearby Stoneyetts Road (Moodiesburn – Shettleston) and alight at Glenboig. Cross the Road to enter the village park to see Garnqueen Loch. Total journey time is 45 minutes. Alternatively, take the train from Glasgow Queen Street Low Level to Coatbridge Sunnyside Rail Station (Helensburgh Central - Edinburgh line). The journey time is 20 minutes. On arrival at Coatbridge Sunnyside turn left to join Sunnyside Road. From here catch the number 32C bus (Glenboig circular – Coatbridge) and alight at Glenboig. Total journey time is 35 minutes.

 

Coming from North Lanarkshire

Hogganfield Loch – Train or bus into Glasgow City Centre, then take bus number 19 or 38C from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Cumbernauld Road, by Hogganfield Loch. Alternatively Bus number 38/38A from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Gartloch Road, by Lethamhill Golf course. Turn right onto Cumbernauld Road, the entrance to Hogganfield Loch is a short walk on the right. The journey time is 25 minutes. The journey time for the 38/38A/38C and 19 bus is 25 minutes.

Frankfield Loch - Train or bus into Glasgow City Centre, then take the number 38C or 19 from outside Glasgow Queen Street station and alight on Cumbernauld Road, by Hogganfield Loch. Total journey time is 30 minutes.

Alternatively, train to Easterhouse Rail Station. Upon arrival turn right out of the station to catch the number 40 bus from Easterhouse Road/Denmilne Path and alight on Westerhouse Road/Lochend Road. Walk along Lochend Road to access Bishop Loch Local Nature Reserve.

Lochend / Woodend Lochs - Train to Blairhill Rail Station. On arrival at Blairhill Station it’s a 20 minute walk to Lochend Loch. Cross over Blair Road and walk down the hill to join the Monklands Canal path or walk across the playing fields to access the Drumpellier Country Park. Both paths lead to Lochend Loch. Alternatively train to Coatbridge Central Rail Station and catch the number 017 bus from West Canal St/Summerlee Street and alight in Townhead, on Tay Street/Leven Road. Walk down Tay Street to join Lochview Road/Townhead Road to access Drumpellier Country Park and Lochend Loch.

Johnston Loch - Train to Gartcosh Rail Station, then cross the footbridge and turn right onto Lochend Road to reach Johnston Loch.

Garnqueen Loch - Train to Coatbridge Sunnyside and then turn left to join Sunnyside Road. From here catch the number 32C bus (Glenboig circular – Coatbridge) and alight at Glenboig.
