Sound Out @ Seven Lochs

The SoundOut@SevenLochs project brought together local people and professional musicians to create, record and perform new music to celebrate the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. Some of the music was inspired by the heritage and nature of the area, others were simply music that could be performed at outdoor events to raise awareness of the Seven Lochs project.

Working with tutors from Oi Musica and young musicians from Lochend High, Smithycroft Secondary and All Saints Secondary in Glasgow we created a ‘drums and brass’ street band. We added Easterhouse based community choir ‘East End voices’ and vocal group ‘The Undecided’ to develop and record a soundtrack for the Seven Lochs.

The Sound Out Street Band hit the streets of Easterhouse for the first time on Sat 23rd November 2013, bringing the Seven Lochs sound of 25 drummers, 8 brass players and 10 voices to Easterhouse Leisure Centre and The Fort.

The SoundOut@SevenLochs project ran from June to December 2013. We hope to create, record and perform more ‘Seven Lochs sounds’ in future, so if you’d like to get involved contact us at soundoutsevenlochs@gmail.com or find us on Facebook.

SoundOut@SevenLochs is funded by Creative Scotland and is part of the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.
